Before you purchase inventory, it's best practice to check your sales volume estimates with various methods. This is because sometimes, sales estimators like JungleScout could be off or you could have missed something in your estimates.

To check your estimates or estimate sales volume for products with strange sales ranks, we recommend you use the Manual Sales Estimation Method described below.

Step 1. Scroll down the products listing and click See All Reviews

What is the "Manual Sales Estimation Method" and when should I use it?

Step 2. Sort reviews by "Most Recent."

Step 3. On the review page, make sure that if there is a Variation sorting option, that you select the variation you are considering is selected.

Step 4. Scroll down the page(s) of reviews and count how many reviews there have been in the last 30 days and multiply that number by 30. So, if you count 11 reviews between Dec 1 and Dec 31, then you could estimate that product sells about 330 units per month (11 reviews X 30).

***It's important to keep in mind that all estimations methods (including the manual method, Jungle Scout, AMZ Scout, etc) are all "estimations" by definition.

That means that just because there are 11 reviews, that doesn't mean that product will sell exactly 330 units per month. It could sell more and it could sell less.

That also doesn't mean that if Jungle Scout says the product sells 400 per month but there are only 11 reviews (indicating 330 reviews) that JungleScout (JS) is wrong. When using the Manual method to check your Jungle Scout estimation, you are really just looking for big discrepancies. For example, if Jungle Scout is telling you a product sells 4,000 units per month but it has no reviews, you know there is an issue, while if JS says there are 400 sales and your manual numbers is withing 50% or so, you know you are pretty close with your estimation.
